# Install FrostLine in a Hotel

> Install and commission Voltic FrostLine as part of Hotel Room Control, room by room and floor by floor.

In **Hotel Room Control**, every room has a **Voltic FrostLine** assigned to its kit. The thermostat controls the fan coil and executes the setpoints calculated by the system from presence and window sensors.

  FrostLine operates at 230 V. Installation must be performed exclusively by a qualified electrician, with the circuit isolated, locked out, and verified, following local regulations. Do not energize the device during installation.

## FrostLine's role in Room Control

| Component           | Responsibility in the hotel                                                                             |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **FrostLine**       | Regulates the fan coil in its room: valve or valves according to the project, plus V1/V2/V3 fan speeds. |
| **VolticHub**       | Coordinates the floor's Zigbee devices and communicates their status with the platform.                 |
| **Presence sensor** | Indicates whether the room is occupied so ECO or COMFORT can be applied.                                |
| **Contact sensor**  | Indicates whether a window is open so HVAC can be disabled according to the configured timer.           |

FrostLine must remain identified with the correct room. Do not swap kits between rooms: the association is validated on the platform during commissioning.

## Floor topology and preparation

The official topology is **one VolticHub per floor**. As a reference, each Hub can manage approximately 150 devices and should be assigned 10–15 rooms on that same floor. Add repeaters and only add another Hub if the coverage survey requires it.

The Hub uses **Zigbee channel 25** by default. Configure the hotel's access points to avoid **Wi-Fi channel 11** and reduce collisions and interference.

Before starting a floor, prepare:

* The room list and the numbering of each kit.
* The floor plan showing the Hub, repeaters, and rooms.
* The approved fan coil diagram for each room type.
* A permanent electrical line for each FrostLine, not controlled by a contactor or key card.
* Access to [app.voltic.es](https://app.voltic.es) to validate devices.

## HVAC scenarios

| Hotel scenario                             | FrostLine use                                                          | Required validation                                               |

| **2-pipe** fan coil                        | Standard scenario: one valve and three fan speeds.                     | Approved 2-pipe diagram for the installed version.                |
| **4-pipe** fan coil                        | Independent cooling and heating circuits when included in the project. | Project-defined output map, valves, and mode-change logic.        |
| Fan coil + **hydronic underfloor heating** | Coordinates the fan coil with the floor actuator and its priorities.   | Validated actuator, sensors, protections, and operating sequence. |

  The 2-pipe diagram is not a template for 4-pipe or combined underfloor-heating installations. The terminal map depends on the version, firmware, and validated project diagram. If any of this information is missing, request the diagram from support before wiring.

## Room-by-room installation order

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the kit identity">
    Verify that the FrostLine label matches the intended room and the platform record.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Mount the thermostat">
    Install it 1.5 m above the floor, on an interior wall, away from windows, doors, radiators, and drafts. Use a permanent 230 V electrical line.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect the fan coil">
    With the circuit isolated, connect the supply and outputs according to the approved diagram for that room. Do not connect 12 V or 24 V valves or an electric underfloor-heating load directly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pair with the floor Hub">
    Include FrostLine in the relevant VolticHub and verify that it appears under the correct room in [app.voltic.es](https://app.voltic.es).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test the room">
    Check temperature, valve or valves, V1/V2/V3, and the response to an open window and absence of presence.
  </Step>

## Floor commissioning

Validate each room before moving to the next:

1. FrostLine is connected and assigned to the correct room.
2. The reported temperature is reasonable and updates.
3. ECO and COMFORT setpoints produce the expected behavior.
4. An open window disables the fan coil after the configured timer.
5. Absence triggers ECO behavior when that mode is selected.
6. The valve and fan speeds respond to commands from the platform.
