# Operate FrostLine in a Hotel

> Manage the Voltic FrostLine in each room within Hotel Room Control and verify its automations.

In a hotel, Voltic FrostLine does not operate in isolation: it receives the Room Control setpoint and works with the VolticHub, presence sensors, and window sensors.

## What FrostLine controls

* The room temperature setpoint.
* The HVAC mode configured for the project.
* The fan coil valve or valves according to the approved diagram.
* Fan speeds V1, V2, and V3.

In a 4-pipe or fan coil plus hydronic underfloor-heating installation, the cooling, heating, and priority sequence is defined by the project. Do not change that configuration from a room without validating the diagram with maintenance or support.

## Behavior by room state

| Mode           | Window                        | Presence                   | FrostLine behavior                                                  |
| -------------- | ----------------------------- | -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| ECO | Closed | Detected | Regulates the fan coil according to the ECO setpoint. |
| ECO | Closed | Not detected for the timer | Turns HVAC off when the presence timer ends (5 minutes by default). |
| COMFORT | Closed | Detected or not detected | Maintains the configured comfort setpoint. |
| ECO or COMFORT | Open for the configured timer | Any | Turns HVAC off when the window timer ends. |

The table describes Room Control behavior; see [ECO and COMFORT modes](/en/operation/operating-modes) to change timers and setpoints centrally.

## Hotel operating flow

<Steps>
  <Step title="Configure global behavior">
    Define ECO and COMFORT setpoints and presence and window timers from the Control Panel.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Monitor rooms">
    In [app.voltic.es](https://app.voltic.es), verify that FrostLine is connected, reports temperature, and belongs to the correct room.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Respond to an incident">
    Identify whether the problem affects the Zigbee network, a sensor, the platform, or a fan coil output before touching wiring.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Validate the repair">
    Test a setpoint, the valve, all three fan speeds, and the window and presence responses before returning the room to operation.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Quick checks

| Symptom                               | Initial check                                                                             |
| ------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| FrostLine is offline | Check the floor VolticHub, repeaters, and assigned room. |
| Temperature is not updating | Check FrostLine connectivity and wait for the platform state to refresh. |
| Fan coil does not respond | Check the active mode, setpoint, and relevant output without opening an energized device. |
| It turns off while a guest is present | Check the presence sensor, timer, and that the window is not reporting open. |
| It remains on when the room is empty | Check whether COMFORT is selected; in ECO it should turn off after the absence timer. |

<Warning>
  Do not open or rewire an energized FrostLine. Electrical checks must be performed by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated and verified.
</Warning>

## Maintenance and room changes

Before replacing a FrostLine or moving a kit:

1. Record the room, device reference, and firmware.
2. Unpair and include the device again following the VolticHub procedure.
3. Verify that the room association and automations are preserved.
4. Run the complete room validation before making the room available again.

Do not swap kits between rooms: each kit is preconfigured for a specific room.
